Edna Peres' Doctor of Philosophy in Architecture was titled The translation of ecological resilience theory into urban systems. She explored he application of resilience thinking into urban systems by showing how ecological resilience concepts can translate into the City of Tshwane. Her dissertation establishes explores ecological resilience concepts in an urban system and assimilates findings into an urban resilience approach. The study finds that ecological resilience concepts translate well into urban systems, but that urban resilience depends on an iterative process of investigation. The major contribution of this study lies in an urban resilience framework that outlines a rigorous process to explore built environment resilience.
