On the 7th of September 2014, a little forgotten corner of the road reserve along the prominent Justice Mahomed (Charles) street in Pretoria was transformed into a colourful land-art project in just under two hours as part of the larger Cool Capital "DIY" Arts Biennale taking place in the Capital city from 29 August until 30 November 2014. Shwe Shwe for a Sjoe Sjoe city was brought to life by members of TRUST, third year Construction Economics students from the University of Pretoria as well as interested members of the public who wanted to create awareness about the serious issue of climate change, using a positive act of urban art within a 'lost space'. Climate change is the biggest 21st century challenge that global society will face, causing major transformations. |
