As part of TRUST's participation in the SAPECS colloquium, Chrisna, Edna and Albert presented an interaction session with the audience, to engage with ideas related to the application of ecological resilience thinking to urban systems. Building on research already conducted, participants were asked to think about the ways in which themes of system regimes and states, thresholds, adaptive cycle and diversity manifest in the city.
The audience was asked to vote on some of the suggestions that were developed at our Urban Resilience Colloquium held in 2012 (presented in an info-graphic format) and then were asked to think of some scenarios in response to the four themes and questions, which they then placed on boards and informally discussed during the break between sessions. This interactive session provided the much needed opportunity to acknowledge the impact that cities as Social-Ecological systems have on issues of sustainability and post-sustainability outlooks for thriving city futures.
